Offices of Congressman Chris Collins and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand to Host Assistance to Firefighters Grant Workshops
The offices of Congressman Chris Collins (NY-27) and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand will host two workshops focused on helping local first responders access the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program. The workshops will include representatives from the Fire Program Specialist Office of FEMA who will give presentations on new and existing policies, guidelines, and requirements for the AFG program. A question and answer session will follow the presentations.
“Our first responders routinely risk their lives for our safety,” said Congressman Collins. “It is vital these first responders have the tools they need to keep our communities safe. Federal grants play a critical role in providing the equipment, training, and resources these first responders need, and I will continue to do whatever I can to support them.”
“We need to do everything we can to protect the men and women who risk their lives every day in the face of danger. These brave first responders must have access to the most up-to-date equipment to do their jobs effectively and stay safe while they are protecting our communities,” said Senator Gillibrand. “These grant workshops are necessary in order to facilitate federal funds for essential equipment and make information available to our local fire departments. I will always fight in the Senate to make sure that our fire departments are funded and equipped.”
